access Access Location where the audiotape or videotape can be listened to, viewed, or ordered.
adr Adverse Ruling Document ID(s) for Adverse Ruling waivers, orders and decisions. A statement of whether the claimed privilege has ever been ruled waived, invalid, inapplicable or unenforceable for any reason by a court, with a specification of the case title(s), action number(s), court(s), date(s) of waiver or decision.
area Area Describes the physical location where the document was found in the offices of the providing tobacco company.
at Attending Person(s) and/or organization(s) in attendance.
ato Attending Organizations Organization(s) in attendance.
atp Attending Persons Person(s) in attendance.
attach Physical Attachments Records physical fasteners (staples, rubber bands, binder clips, etc.) of a group of documents at the time of collection from the tobacco company files.
au Author Person(s) and/or organization(s) responsible for creation or origination of a document.
auo Organization Author Organization(s) responsible for creation or origination of a document.

bn Bates Number The unique number identifying the document assigned by the tobacco company.

brd Brands Brand names of tobacco products. Brands names might be for cigarettes, cigars, smokeless tobacco, and other tobacco products.

caseid Case ID Eight digit number references the case for which the document was produced. The identifiers and corresponding cases are listed on the company web site.
casename Case Name Names the case in which the document was produced.

ccp Person Copied Person(s) copied on the document.
cn Collection The name of the entity that contributed documents to the library. For example, a tobacco company.
cond Characteristics Description of the traits, qualities, and properties of the document including Attachments Missing, Draft, English Abstract, Foreign Language, Handwritten, Illegible, Translation, Marginalia.

crt Court Name of court in which case was filed .
ct Country Country of the document.
dd Document Date The date, if any, which appears on the document. Format: YYYYMMDD or 00000000 for no date.
ddi Date Added Industry The date (YYYYMMDD) the document appeared on the tobacco company's web site.
ddm Date Modified Industry Site The date (YYYYMMDD) the document was last modified on the tobacco company's web site.
ddprod Date Produced Date that the document was placed in the Minnesota Depository.

ddu Date Added UCSF The date (YYYYMMDD) the document appeared on UCSF's web site.
desc Description The indexer's description of the document's content.
dpl Privilege log date Privilege log date .
dt Document Type The format or kind of document. Examples of document type include: letter, memo, report, computer printout, video.
dupe Duplicate Indicates if this document is a duplicate. This field is not displayed.
exw Express Waiver A statement of whether the claimed privilege has ever been expressly waived, with a specification of the case title(s), action number(s), court(s), date(s) of waiver or decision.
fn File Number The ID range and text name of the file in which the document was found.
genre Genre Describes the type of audio or video tape, for example, commercial, focus group, or corporate meeting.
grantnum Grant Contracts, grants, grant applications, and special project numbers mentioned in Center for Tobacco Research documents.
journal Journal Citation Citation information when the document is a journal or newspaper article.
kw Keywords Describes the important concepts in a document.
lg Language Language(s) of document. Use the following 2 letter codes: Arabic - ar, Chinese - ch, French - fr, German - de, Greek - el, Hindu - hi, Italian - it, Russian - ru, Spanish - es, All Other Languages - unkn.
mbn Master Bates A range of multiple Bates Numbers that identifies pages included in a complex document. For example, the Master Bates Number of a letter with attachments includes the Bates range of the letter and all its attachments.
md Metadata Searches all fields in the catalog record (metadata) of a document, for example, title, author, or date, but does not include the text of the document itself.
men Mentioned Person(s) and/or organization(s) referenced in the text of the document.
meno Organizations Mentioned Organization(s) referenced in the text of the document.

pgmap Page Map Another Name for Bates Number.

redact Redacted Indicates whether the document contains words or sentences that were erased (redacted) by the tobacco company due to confidentiality issues (i.e. trade secrets, attorney/client privileges) before the document was publicly released.
refdoc Referenced Documents .
reqno Request Number The request number pertains to the document requests filed by the plaintiffs in the State of Minnesota et al. vs. Philip Morris et al. litigation. Each document request asks for specific kinds of documents. The entry in this field relates a specific document to at least one request and is recorded as CASE CODE/REQUEST SET-REQUEST NUMBER. For example, when the entry reads STMN/R1-007, STMN refers to the above referenced State of Minnesota case, R1 refers to plaintiffs' first set of requests and the 007 refers to the seventh request in that set.
