The American Legacy Foundation is a national, independent, public health foundation
located in Washington D.C. Legacy is committed to working with other organizations that are interested in decreasing
the use of tobacco by Americans. Among Legacy's top priorities are to reduce tobacco use by young people and to support programs
that help people quit smoking. |

The History of Medicine Programme at the Wellcome Trust provided the London School of
Hygiene & Tropical Medicine with a major grant to initiate the GAP project. The grant enabled the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to acquire the complete collection of BAT documents from the Guildford Depository, and to mount
a large portion of the documents on the public Web site. |

The Flight Attendant Medical Research Institute (FAMRI) provided a major grant
to the Library & Center for Knowledge Management, UCSF to create the BAT documents
database and public BATDA website and to process a large portion of the Guildford documents. |

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation was established as a national
philanthropic organization in 1972 and today it is the largest US foundation
devoted to improving the health of Americans. The Foundation concentrates grantmaking in four areas:
to assure that all Americans have access to basic health
care at reasonable cost;
to improve care and support for people with chronic health
conditions;
to promote healthy communities and lifestyles; and
to reduce the personal, social and economic harm caused by
substance abuse; tobacco, alcohol, and illicit drugs. |

The mission of TRDRP is to support research that focuses on the prevention, causes, and
treatment of tobacco-related disease and the reduction of the human and economic costs of tobacco use in California.
The program goals are to fund excellent research addressing all aspects of tobacco use; to widely disseminate the
research findings through a variety of media; to encourage and support new scientific infrastructures and networks critical
for a comprehensive approach to tobacco control; and to serve as an information resource for those interested in issues of
tobacco control.

a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), is the United States Federal Government's principal agency for cancer research and training. NCI
has generously provided research grants and support for efforts to enhance researchers' access to tobacco industry documents.

The American Heart Association provided a grant to UCSF to undertake background
legal research for the GAP project to acquire the British American Tobacco documents.

The mission of the UCSF Academic Senate is to provide the highest level
of analytical and administrative support, guidance, coordination, communication and assistance in matters concerning members of the
Academic Senate and associated UCSF Faculty. In addition to shared governance of the University of California, San Francisco, campus, the
UCSF Academic Senate Committees provide grant funding and support to a wide range of research projects and proposals.
