Description
The plaintiff was deposed by the defendants. She discussed the places where she has lived and her career as a bookkeeper and booking agent. She discussed her medical history and said that her health was very poor due to her battle with lung cancer. She said she was diagnosed with lung cancer in September of 1980. She said that she began smoking when she was twelve because she believed it was the thing to do with her friends. She explained that advertisements made smoking look glamorous. The witness listed the different types of cigarette brands she smoked. She described herself as a constant brand switchers who had probably tried half a dozen brands. She said that she began smoking filtered cigarettes in 1969 because she heard they were milder and she was experiencing a very painful cough. She stated that she did not cough as much while using the filtered cigarettes. She said that she was aware that smoking was associated with the development of coughs and cancer. She described her quit attempts. She mentioned some of the cigarette advertisements that she recalled seeing.
